The Ecommerce Innovation Alliance (EIA) extends its congratulations to Olivia Trusty on her confirmation yesterday to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Her vast experience and deep understanding of telecommunications policy will be invaluable as the Commission addresses critical issues impacting the digital economy.
Olivia Trusty’s confirmation comes at a crucial time for the FCC, as Republican Commissioner Nathan Simington abruptly departed from the commission on June 6, coinciding with the planned departure of Democrat Geoffrey Starks, which left the Commission with only 2 of the its 5 seats filled, meaning it no longer possessed the quorum necessary to vote on any items.
“The Ecommerce Innovation Alliance congratulates Olivia Trusty on her confirmation and looks forward to collaborating with Commissioner Trusty and the entire FCC to foster an environment that supports growth, fair competition, and continued innovation within the ecommerce sector,” stated David Carter, President of the EIA. “Her proven expertise and commitment to robust communications policy make her an excellent choice for this vital role. We also urge President Trump to promptly nominate replacements for the open Democratic and Republican seats on the Commission so that the agency can enjoy the benefits of a full Commission and diverse view points.”
